If you do not have a sedation, you will be escorted to one of our lounge chairs in our second recovery room. You will be allowed to leave the facility within a few minutes as long as you are feeling okay.
If you have had an anaesthetic, when you wake up, you will be in a different room known as recovery 1. You will be here for approximately 10 minutes while you wake up. A nurse will greet you and perform obs constantly to ensure you recover safely.
Once you are ready, the nurse will move you to 2nd recovery where you will get to lounge in recliner chairs and be provided with some light refreshments. We offer gluten free and dairy free snacks to those who need them.
You have to stay in our facility for at least an hour after your procedure as is the legal requirement in Queensland following anaesthesia. A nurse will call your escort and will give them an hours' notice of your discharge time.
You may have to stay longer at our facility if you experience post-operative complications such as nausea.
Some patients experience mild bleeding and cramping after the procedure, similar to a period. Pain relief will be provided if required.
You must NOT drive yourself home. Anaesthetic can have adverse effects for up to 24 hours after being adminstered, so you cannot legally drive for 24 hours after your procedure.
You CANNOT catch a taxi alone, or public transport at all.
You MUST not be responsible for looking after children alone for the next 24 hours.
You will be able to leave the clinic immediately after the procedure.
